At Margaretting and Dame Tipping we hatched chicks.

Margaretting:

Monday 15th March marked day 12 of incubation.  For 12 days our children have been watching our chicks grow inside their eggs.  Everyday the eggs are turned to ensure the baby chick does not stick to the shell. Today we candled the eggs in a dark room and looked at what we could see.  This is a process where you shine a bright light through the bottom of the egg. We saw the tiny blood vessels of the chicks growing inside the egg.  We also saw the air sac at the bottom of the egg.

The eggs hatched on Friday 26th March just in time for Easter!


Dame Tipping:

Wednesday 24th March – Signs of new life in Reception this morning!
