Katie Welsh
Head of School at Holy Trinity
Holy Trinity Primary School
Katie has been teaching for 26 years, having completed a combined studies Honours Degree in English and French at Manchester Metropolitan University, with a Certificate in Education. During her course, she spent a year teaching English at two secondary schools in Bayeux in Northern France as part of her French and Education Studies. Throughout her training, Katie undertook student placements in a range of primary schools across the North-West of England.
Following her graduation, Katie began her teaching career in Buckinghamshire and became head of KS1 at a large, outstanding primary school. During her time there, she led initiatives in early reading, assessment and mentored trainee teachers.
Since moving back to Essex in 2006, Katie took a year out of teaching to raise her son before joining Holy Trinity. In 2013, she became the Deputy Headteacher. She has taught across the primary age range from Year 1 through to Year 6 and has led a variety of subjects including Art, French, Geography, Phonics, English and Assessment. Katie is an avid reader and passionate about children's literature. She is about to embark on gaining her NPQH qualification and is looking forward to working alongside colleagues within the Life Education Trust as the Head of School at Holy Trinity.
