As a Trust we have been shocked and disturbed by the killing of George Floyd, which has led to widespread outrage and strong feelings throughout the world about the need for justice.
It is clear to us at LIFE that there are still significant issues of racial inequality and discrimination in society and we are determined to support our schools in making all efforts to eradicate racism and promote tolerance and understanding.
We fully acknowledge that Black Lives Matter. We are extremely proud to be based on the edge of London, a great and diverse city which celebrates equality, diversity and inclusion. Students in LIFE schools speak over 50 languages and already have many opportunities to learn about other cultures.
Nonetheless we are not complacent. We want to ensure that no one in our communities feels marginalised or discriminated against. Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic pupils and staff are important members of our community and we are clear that we will not accept discrimination in any form.
As a family of schools we recognise our main responsibility is to educate and we take a holistic approach to this education. We continue to be here to support anyone who has been affected by discrimination and every school has counselling and support services are available to all pupils and staff.
