Your Professional Development Matters

Learning is for Everyone and at LIFE we support our colleagues in their professional development by investing in their golden thread journey. We work with colleagues to offer opportunities that aid growth and development at all stages of their careers; we believe in investing in our colleagues to fulfil their potential in their current roles and we support preparation towards progressing beyond these roles. We are proud of our strong links with Ambition Institute, the Church of England, Anglia Ruskin University and London District East and the networks we have with teachers and leaders in Havering, Barking and Dagenham and Newham. In addition, LIFE leads on delivering the annual Havering Festival of Education which provides educational professionals the opportunity to engage in free professional development sessions with local talent and national speakers; we launched our 2024 Festival with training delivered by Professor Dylan Wiliam and preparation for 2025’s Festival is well underway. 

Your Golden Thread Journey

As part of the Department for Education vision for teacher recruitment and retention, at LIFE we support your Golden Thread journey. We are delighted to work with the local Teaching School Hub, London District East as our assessment body and Ambition Institute in delivering the Early Career Framework. We appreciate the first few years of teaching can be a challenge and our schools ensure ECT entitlements are met and additional support and guidance is given through expert colleagues to ensure the two-year induction period as an ECT is successful.

We also engage with colleagues’ opportunities to obtain a National Professional Qualification (NPQ), with many employees now holding an NPQ in the new framework which was rolled out in 2021. In addition, we have several of our leaders involved in coaching and facilitating NPQs with either Ambition Institute or the Church of England and we work in collaboration with London District East Teaching School Hub to lead the NPQs in Havering, including delivering seminars and conferences, sharing guidance and support and acting as a point of contact for NPQs. We build great learning communities and by joining a LIFE school you will have access to nationally recognized qualifications.
