Food banks

Our LIFE schools are supporting food banks.
The Trussell Trust aims to create a UK without the need for food banks. They support a nationwide network of food banks and together we provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
All our LIFE schools collect food donations and have planned activities to raise money for Trussell Food banks. We work mostly with the food banks in Harold Hill, Collier Row and Chelmsford.
“A food bank is a charity that supports people without enough money to buy their own food. People like us help the food bank by donating food to them. Like other charities it help all ages to get the help they need.
Our school (and Trust) helps the food bank and supports everyone in our school.
You can help your local food bank by donating! …Rice, baked beans, soup, instant coffee, pasta, cereal, long life milk… and loads more!”

This year we will fundraise for the Trussell Trust charity. We as a trust will be supporting the Food Bank in out nearest town, Chelmsford. Please help us to make our charity successful, by donating non-perishable foods to school whenever you can. Your support will be much appreciated.
Look out for our fund raising events through out the year.

To celebrate Harvest Festival this year several of our LIFE schools collected food to donate to their local foodbank.

Thursday 10th June 2021 – The Margaretting LIFE Ambassadors spent the afternoon thinking about Food banks. They talked about why food banks exist and how they work. They thought it is good that food banks exist but bad that they are needed. They were pleased to learn that food banks help people with a parcel of food in the short term but also help people connect to organisations that can help them get into a better place long term. They talked about what might and might not go into a food parcel. Then they planned and created their own food parcel bag with their own branded food items.
